8-week MBSR / MBCT training
Good Mindfulness has been successfully conducting the internationally known mindfulness training in Amsterdam and Waterland for several years. Besides that we are part of MO (Mindful organisations), a network of Dutch mindfulness trainers in organisations, dedicated to create a lighter and more conscious work environment.
This 8- week training here at Yogaschool Noord is a thorough attention training, in which you learn daily exercises that make you physically and mentally fitter and more resilient. It is a fixed program of which effectiveness has been scientifically proven over the past 35 years.
Mindfulness simply means: Being aware of the current experience. By learning to direct your attention more frequently, you become more and more aware of your automatic distractions.
You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
We live in a busy world and are flooded with waves of impressions and challenges every day. We respond to this with ever deeper ingrained reaction patterns. This can feel like we have no choice and we are “being lived.” Stress, burnout, excessive worrying, anxiety, gloominess, depression or sleeping problems can result from this lifestyle. Through mindfulness you learn to respond more consciously to setbacks, from outside and within yourself. You train your attention and practice with a number of attitudes: non-judgment, patience, fresh perspective, non-striving and acceptance.
The training is valuable for everyone, and particularly effective for people with complaints as described above. In the words of Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of this 8-week mindfulness training: “I have never met anyone who would not benefit from more mindfulness in his life.”

Good Mindfulness has a category 1 trainer, registered at the VMBN. That is why many health insurances reimburse (part of) this training. Check the conditions here.

A skype or telephone intake interview takes place before the training. Together we discuss the motivation to participate. The trainer also gives some more information about the training and there is an opportunity to ask questions. In this way we can determine in mutual consent whether the training is currently suitable for you.
Structure of the training
You get a workbook and digital audio files with guided exercises to do at home. To learn mindfulness you have to be involved with it every day. This training requires a time investment of approximately 45 minutes per day.
The 8 weekly sessions
The training consists of 8 weekly sessions of 2.5 hours and one practice day. We work in groups of 5 to 10 participants.
